Petersen Museum 3

Left, Chevy Biscayne detail, right Pontiac Bonneville Special

The Petersen is marking its 30th anniversary as it has grown to one of the world’s largest and diverse automotive museums. In about 100,000 square feet of exhibit space it notes the evolution of automotive engineering and its impact on our culture. The displays include specialty exhibits such as the Corvette s In Competition, Cars of Film & Television, Treasures of Splendor & Speed,  and several concept cars. I spent a total of 5 hours over two days taking photographs of a small selection of the collection, I could easily have spent 5 days.

There is always one vehicle in every exhibition that is truly a show stopper. For me it is this spectacular 1925 Rolls Royce Phantom “round door” coupe with its early aerodynamic profile accented with a center fin.

To add a little whimsy as I close out this posting, I offer up, from the Cars in Film and Television collection … the Batmobile!
