South Island, New Zealand

My son Max and I spent about two weeks in New Zealand, split between the North and South islands. To this point in my travels I thought Hawaii was number one for spectacular scenery with Iceland a close second. Sorry guys, you two have been knocked down a peg by the magnificence that is New Zealand. The image above, Lake Wanaka.

As we approached Queenstown I noticed a significant amount of yellow foliage from the air. When we got to ground I learned these were poplar trees, in full fall display. I was captivated by them.

We hit the road twice on the South Island, one drive to Lake Wanaka through the  pass, another through Glenorchy. Both were simply wonderful.  This group of photographs is in random order.
