Aix en Provence 2

Rotunda Fountain

The first full day of the tour was exhausting. Smithsonian has a strange way of scheduling. First there is the arrival day when they had a nice little welcome and a group dinner. The next day was a lot of walking and a lecture - in which several of us almost fell asleep as we were still suffering jet lag. In their wisdom they scheduled the next day as a free day. You would think it would have been the other way around.

We got back to our room to rest, and after a few hours decided it was time to get out for dinner. We picked Cintra, a 24-hour bistro a few blocks away. I had stuffed mussels, Amy had a salad nicoise, accompanied by a carafe of a house red.  Afterwards we walked about for a bit, people watching, had dessert at another spot and finally to rest. C’est bien.
