This collection is a curated selection of the many photographs I have created over the past 45 years. While my assignment work offered me great opportunities, to travel, to meet interesting people and more, it is my personal work that gives me the greatest satisfaction. Unless I am working on a specific project, like my Washington D.C. book or the Nus Feminins series, I typically shoot with no agenda. I believe photographs find me, not the other way around. What drew me to the art of photography as a teenager, color, negative space, contrast and composition drives me today.

Much of my work is informed by strong interest in architecture. For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to structures' color, contrast and negative space, these have become elements in all of my work. I've been told that my portrait and landscape images have an architectural sensibility as well. Who knew?

I started my career as a studio portrait photographer, and studied with three master photographers, the most influential being Jay Maisel, one of the most important photographers of the 20th century, a master colorist and charismatic teacher. It was he who most influenced the path of my work.
